Snack Smart! Tip 2
Just as I was writing a few days ago, it is easy to have nice nutritious snacks while on your diet after Gastric Bypass surgery... another great treat are David Pumpkin Seeds. They are lightly salted and roasted, all-natural and convenient for snackers on the go.
A 0.75oz bag has 90 calories and 5 Grams of Proteins !! Now... since those contain salt, the Sodium intake is 5mg.
Pumpkin seeds are high in potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, copper and essential fatty acids (EFA’s). They also have over twice as much protein as carbohydrates.
Of course it does not have to be the David brand, any natural seed will do the trick. If you want to cut down on sodium, go for the unsalted version.
Watch the salt on these...they actually have 940mg per serving (which is 3,760mg per bag). Read the fine print at the bottom of the label; the 'low' salt given on the label is only for the kernels. That's the part inside the shell. Unless you want to sit there peeling every shell, just buy another brand of salted seeds; David's are way higher in salt than any other.
