Obese Teens need Guidance, not Surgery

Finally someone that understands me! Diane W. Mufson, a licensed psychologist just wrote a brief opinion in the Hearld Dispatch (Huntington, WV) about Teens and Weightloss Surgery. Yes, that topic that is driving me crazy lately… Kids do not suddenly become morbidly obese; it takes years. Parents need to realistically guide their children's food consumption and activity levels. Well what about us teens who are already clinically obese. Sure our parents can begin to change their parenting tactics now.. but even with eating healthier the fat cells are still there.. it's not as easy as just parents doing their job. Since I'm actually in the position I can tell you first hand that all us fat kids want is a FRESH START. A chance to do it all over again knowing what we know now, and sometimes.. most times surgery can give us our magical once in a lifetime wish.
